Annovera and Nuvaring are both vaginal ring birth control devices that work by releasing small amounts of hormones into the vagina. They both contain estrogen and progestin. But Annovera has a unique kind of progestin called segesterone acetate.

Due to Annovera’s unique hormonal content, the same Annovera ring can be used for 12 months. NuvaRing devices, on the other hand, need to be replaced monthly. So, even though a single Annovera ring costs significantly more than a Nuvaring device, your annual cost for the two birth control devices may be the same or only slightly different.
