Albuterol is a generic medication prescribed for certain breathing problems. Its brand-name versions include ProAir HFA, ProAir Respiclick, and Ventolin HFA. The cost of albuterol with or without insurance can depend on several factors. It might be lowered by using a coupon.

• oral tablets
• oral syrup
• liquid solution that you inhale with a nebulizer machine*

• Prior authorization. If you have prescription drug insurance, your insurance company may require prior authorization before it covers the cost of albuterol. This will add to the cost of the inhalation solution.

The cost of albuterol’s forms depends on various factors, such as whether you have insurance coverage. Your cost for the drug may be higher without insurance. Other factors that may affect the cost of your prescription include the pharmacy you use and your treatment plan (the strength and frequency of your albuterol doses).
