CAUTIONS: DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE if you have had an allergic reaction to it, to other retinoids (such as tretinoin), or if you are allergic to any ingredient in this product. Laboratory and/or medical tests, including pregnancy tests, liver function, blood lipid levels, and x-rays may be performed to monitor your progress or to check for side effects. KEEP ALL DOCTOR AND LABORATORY APPOINTMENTS while you are using this medicine. This medicine may cause drowsiness, decreased night vision, or other vision changes. DO NOT DRIVE, OPERATE MACHINERY, OR DO ANYTHING ELSE THAT COULD BE DANGEROUS until you know how you react to this medicine. Using this medicine alone, with other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or to perform other potentially dangerous tasks. DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL while you are using this medicine. THIS MEDICINE IS SIMILAR TO VITAMIN A. Do not take other medicines that contain vitamin A without checking with your doctor. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. This includes St. John's wort. THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE INCREASED SENSITIVITY TO THE SUN. Avoid exposure to the sun, sunlamps, or tanning booths until you know how you react to this medicine. Use a sunscreen or protective clothing if you must be outside for a prolonged period. DENTAL PROBLEMS (such as mouth sores, gum bleeding) MAY OCCUR WHILE YOU TAKE THIS MEDICINE. Contact your doctor or dentist if these problems persist or become bothersome. IF YOU WEAR CONTACT LENSES and you develop problems with them or other vision changes, contact your doctor. CAUTION IS ADVISED WHEN USING THIS MEDICINE IN THE ELDERLY OR IN CHILDREN; they may be more sensitive to the effects of the medicine. WOMEN WHO ARE ABLE TO BECOME PREGNANT must use 2 effective forms of birth control for at least 1 month before you start this medicine, while you take it, and for at least 3 years after you stop treatment. IF YOU TAKE a progestin-only birth control pill ("mini-pill"), your doctor may need to prescribe a different form of hormonal birth control. FOR WOMEN: This medicine has been shown to cause harm to the fetus. Do not become pregnant while you are using it and for at least 3 years after you stop taking it. If you think you may be pregnant, contact your doctor right away. THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED in breast milk. DO NOT BREAST-FEED while taking this medicine. IF YOU HAVE DIABETES, this medicine may affect your blood sugar. Check blood sugar levels closely and ask your doctor before adjusting the dose of your diabetes medicine.
