    Dacryocystitis

    Dacryocystitis

A tear duct infection happens when the tear duct becomes blocked and bacteria grow in the tear duct. Your tears are made by your tear glands that are above your eyes and under your top eye lids. The tears flow over your eye and wash away dirt on the surface of your eye. Then your tears collect in a small opening at the corner of your top and bottom eyelids. From there, your tears drain into the tear duct. If one of these drain tubes becomes blocked, you can get a tear duct infection.
