Contact Dermatitis Discharge Instructions

Contact dermatitis looks like a rash or red spots on your skin. You get this when your skin touches something that bothers it. You may have an allergy or it may just irritate your skin. One kind of dermatitis is caused by soaps, cleaning products, or chemicals. These items often cause a burn on your skin. This is an irritant dermatitis. Other times you may be allergic to something. Plants, drugs, foods, or chemicals may cause an allergic reaction on your skin. Treatment for both kinds is to avoid the items that are causing problems.

Treat the allergy or the reaction,Help stop your skin irritation,Help with swelling,Stop itching or rashes,Prevent or help fight an infection

Signs of a very bad reaction. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Go to the ER right away.,Signs of infection. These include a fever of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher, chills, wound that will not heal.,Signs of wound infection. These include swelling, redness, warmth around the sore; too much pain when touched; yellowish, greenish, or bloody discharge; foul smell coming from the sore.,Health problem is not better or you are feeling worse
