• to reduce excess body weight in adults with obesity or adults with overweight and at least one other weight-related condition

Wegovy pill vs. Wegovy injection

The Wegovy pill and the injection both contain the same active ingredient — semaglutide. This means the two forms work in much the same way and are similarly effective, leading to weight reductions of around 15%. The pill is taken daily, while the injectable form is given weekly.

One of the main differences between the pill and injection forms of Wegovy is that the pill has fewer indications. The Wegovy injection is also approved to manage noncirrhotic metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH). It’s also approved for weight management in children older than 12, while the pill is only approved in adults.
