Acanya is used to treat mild to moderate acne vulgaris. It is applied directly to the face once daily. It’s intended for short-term treatment only; clinical trials haven’t revealed if it’s safe and effective when used for longer than 12 weeks.
Acanya gel comes in a 50g canister with 1.2% benzoyl peroxide and 2.5% clindamycin. It isn’t available in any other strengths or sizes. It’s usually only prescribed to be applied to the skin once a day for a limited treatment period.
Acanya is only intended for use on the skin; keep this medication away from your eyes, mouth, nose, and vagina. If you unintentionally get the gel in any of these areas, rinse with water immediately. Before you start using Acanya, tell your doctor if you have any medical conditions, are using any other medications or skin products, or are pregnant or breastfeeding. This medication may make your skin more sensitive to UV rays, so avoid tanning beds and limit your time in direct sunlight. Wear protective clothing and sunscreen when you do plan to be outside.
