Zenchent is a combination hormone medication which is used to prevent pregnancy. It contains 2 hormones: progestin and estrogen. Zenchent works primarily by preventing the release of an egg (ovulation) during the menstrual cycle. Also, it makes certain vaginal fluid thicker to help prevent sperm from reaching an egg (fertilization). It also changes the lining of the uterus (womb) to prevent implantation of a fertilized egg. When a fertilized egg does not attach to the uterus, it passes out of the body, and thus pregnancy does not occur. Aside from preventing pregnancy, birth control pills such as Zenchent can make periods more regular, decrease blood loss or painful periods and decrease the risk of ovarian cysts. Zenchent may also be used to treat acne. Zenchent is a brand name, and the two generic drugs it contains are Norethindrone 0.4mg and Ethinyl Estradiol 0.035mg. The price of Zenchent oral tablets (35 mcg-0.4 mg) is approximately $208 for a supply of 168 (6 month’s supply). Consult with your doctor for specific dosing instructions for this medication for the treatment of your condition.

Zenchent is available in tablet form. Each pack contains 21 active pills and 7 inactive pills.

One pill should be taken at the same time every day until the pack is empty. If the patient is on the 28-day regimen, she should begin the next pack the day after the last inactive tablet and not wait any days between packs.

If a pill is missed, the patient may become pregnant if she has unprotected intercourse in the seven days after missing pills. To avoid this, another birth control method such as condom should be used in these seven days.

In the case of vomiting or diarrhea, that day’s pill should be presumed ‘missed’ and the 7 day rule should also be followed.

This may not be a complete list of warnings. Consult with your doctor regarding possible risks associated with taking this medication, and refer to the warning label on your medication for more information.
