Vivelle-Dot is a drug used to treat certain ovarian disorders, prevent postmenopausal osteoporosis, or treat the following menopausal side effects, including hot flashes and vaginal dryness, itching, or irritation.
This medication is only available as a transdermal patch at a .05 mg per day dosage. A new patch should be applied two times weekly.
Do not use this medication if you have a history of cardiovascular disease or disorders (e.g., heart attack, stroke, blood clot), if you have a history of cancer (especially breast, ovarian, thyroid, or uterine cancers), dementia, liver disease, a bleeding disorder, or unusual vaginal bleeding. You may not be able to use this medication if you have a history of jaundice associated with birth control pills or giving birth, a seizure disorder, gallbladder or kidney disease, migraines, porphyria, or hereditary angioedema. This medication may increase your risk of dementia, heart attack, stroke, blood clot, or uterine cancer.
