CAUTIONS: DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE if you have had an allergic reaction to it, to any ingredient in this product, or to fenofibric acid. LABORATORY AND/OR MEDICAL TESTS, including liver function, kidney function, blood cholesterol, and complete blood cell counts, may be performed to monitor your progress or to check for side effects. Keep all doctor and laboratory appointments while you are taking this medicine. BEFORE YOU HAVE ANY MEDICAL OR DENTAL TREATMENTS, emergency care, or surgery, tell the doctor or dentist that you are taking this medicine. THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE DIZZINESS. Do not drive, operate machinery, or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how you react to this medicine. Using this medicine alone, with other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or to perform other potentially dangerous tasks. DO NOT EXCEED THE RECOMMENDED DOSE, change your dose, or stop taking this medicine without checking with your doctor. FOLLOW THE DIET, exercise and weight loss program given to you by your health care provider. MUSCLE PROBLEMS (MYOPATHY) may occur with this medicine. The risk of muscle problems may be greater in the elderly and in people who have kidney problems or low thyroid function. It may also be greater in those who take this medicine with certain other medicines (eg, colchicine; HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors or statins, such as simvastatin). Tell your doctor right away if you notice any unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness, especially if you also have a fever or general body discomfort. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINES, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. CAUTION IS ADVISED WHEN USING THIS MEDICINE IN THE ELDERLY because they may be more sensitive to the effects of the medicine. FOR WOMEN: IT IS NOT KNOWN if this medicine can cause harm to the fetus. IF YOU BECOME PREGNANT or plan on becoming pregnant, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using this medicine during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED in breast milk. DO NOT BREAST-FEED while taking this medicine.
