This medication is used to treat erectile dysfunction in adult males. It cannot cure this dysfunction, nor does it affect libido.
This medication is only available as 10mg orally disintegrating tablets, and it can only be purchased in packages of four pills. It is placed on the tongue and allowed to dissolve about 60 minutes before sexual activity.
Do not take Staxyn if you also take a nitrate for chest pain or heart issues, or if you take riocuigat, as this can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure. This medication may also contain phenylalanine, and you may not be able to take it if you have PKU. This medication can cause priapism, sudden loss of vision due to loss of blood flow to the optic nerve, or severe cardiovascular issues. You may not be able to take this medication if you have been told you cannot have sexual intercourse for health reasons, or if you have or have a history of physical deformity of the penis, seizures, Long QT syndrome, heart rhythm problems, heart disease or congestive heart failure, high or low blood pressure, blood cell disorder, bleeding disorder, heart attack or stroke (especially in the last 6 months), kidney or liver disease or if you are on dialysis, have a stomach ulcer, or have eye disorders including a history of vision loss, or hearing or vision problems.
