Qnasl is used to relieve nasal allergy symptoms such as sneezing, itching, runny nose, and congestion in adults and children ages 4 and up. Your doctor may prescribe this medication or another corticosteroid nasal spray if antihistamines haven’t been effective at treating your allergy symptoms.

Qnasl comes in two strengths: 4.9g of 40mcg and 8.7g of 80mcg. The lower dose is intended for use in children ages 4 to 11 while the higher dose is intended for adults and children ages 12 and older. Each inhaler contains either 60 or 120 doses (sprays). There is a spray counter on the side of the inhaler that will track how many doses remain. The recommended dose is one spray in each nostril once daily for children ages 4 to 11 and two sprays in each nostril once daily for adults and children 12 and up.

Before using Qnasl, tell your doctor about your medical history, including any current infections or illnesses, sores or ulcers in your nose, glaucoma, cataracts, or recent nose injury or surgery. You should also inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding, pregnant, or planning a pregnancy. The Qnasl drug can reduce your immune system response, so avoid being near people who are sick while using this medication. Qnasl is intended for intranasal use only; if you get any of the aerosol medicine in your eyes, rinse with water immediately. Call your doctor right away if you experience any serious side effects, including flu-like symptoms, sores in your nose, a nosebleed that won’t stop, difficulty breathing, or vision changes.
