Picato is available as a gel for use on the skin. To treat actinic keratosis on the face and scalp, apply 0.015% gel once daily three days in a row. To treat actinic keratosis on the arms and legs, use 0.05% gel and apply once daily for two days in a row.
Don’t use this medication if you’re allergic to ingenol. Talk to your doctor first if you’re pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. Too much of this medication can increase your risk of severe skin reactions. You should wash your hands before and after applying Picato gel. Don’t use it on sunburned, damaged, or healing skin. Avoid getting it in your mouth or vagina; rinse with water if this occurs.
