CAUTIONS: DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE if you have had an allergic reaction to it or if you are allergic to any ingredient in this product. TELL YOUR DOCTOR before you take this medicine if you are allergic to naloxone or to an opioid pain medicine (eg, codeine). IF YOU ARE ADDICTED TO NARCOTICS and you take this medicine, you may experience withdrawal symptoms including anxiety; diarrhea; drowsiness; fever, runny nose, or sneezing; goose bumps and abnormal skin sensations; nausea; vomiting; pain; rigid muscles; rapid heartbeat; mental or mood changes, such as confusion; seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there; shivering or tremors; sweating; or trouble sleeping. YOU SHOULD BE opioid-free for at least 7 to 10 days before you start this medicine. Your doctor may perform a test (naloxone challenge test) to see if you have narcotics in your system before you start this medicine. Discuss any questions or concerns with your doctor. LABORATORY AND/OR MEDICAL TESTS, including liver function, may be performed to monitor your progress or to check for side effects. Keep all doctor and laboratory appointments while you are using this medicine. THIS MEDICINE MAY AFFECT CERTAIN LAB TEST RESULTS. Make sure laboratory personnel and your doctors know you use this medicine. BEFORE YOU HAVE ANY MEDICAL OR DENTAL TREATMENTS, emergency care, or surgery, tell the doctor or dentist that you are taking this medicine. THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE DIZZINESS OR DROWSINESS. Do not drive, operate machinery, or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how you react to this medicine. Using this medicine alone, with other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or to perform other potentially dangerous tasks. DO NOT TAKE narcotics (eg, certain cough and cold products, opioid pain relievers such as codeine, heroin) while you are using this medicine; you will not receive any effect from narcotics. Do not try to overcome this effect by taking large doses of narcotics. Taking large doses of narcotics while you are using this medicine may cause serious injury, coma, or death. PATIENTS WHO NO LONGER TAKE this medicine may be more sensitive to narcotics. Even low doses of narcotics may cause serious and life-threatening effects in these patients. Discuss any questions or concerns with your doctor. CARRY IDENTIFICATION to alert healthcare providers that you are taking this medicine. You can get a medication card from your doctor to use for this purpose. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU BECOME PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using this medicine during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using this medicine, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.
