This medication is prescribed to treat post-herpetic neuralgia resulting from an attack of shingles.

Gralise is available as tablets in either 300mg or 600mg strengths. The dosing changes over the beginning of treatment, which lasts for 15 days, so this medication is most often prescribed in a starter dosing pack. Take the dose by mouth once daily with your evening meal. After that, most patients take three pills daily for a maximum dose of 1800mg. Follow your doctor’s instructions.

Do not suddenly stop taking this medication as it can cause serious medical issues. Never use this medication in place of other gabapentin medications. You may not be able to take this medication if you have a seizure disorder, have kidney problems, or require dialysis. This medication may alter thoughts and behavior, so talk to your doctor if you experience depression or suicidal ideation, unusual aggression, insomnia, mania, or acting on dangerous impulses. Do not take this medication if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
