CAUTIONS: DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE if you have had an allergic reaction to it or are allergic to any ingredient in this product. Lab tests may be performed while you use this medicine. You should have breast and pelvic exams and a Pap test at least once a year. You should also have periodic mammograms as determined by your doctor. Follow your doctor's instructions for examining your own breasts, and report any lumps immediately. Your doctor should reevaluate you every 3 to 6 months to determine whether or not you need to continue using this medicine. KEEP ALL DOCTOR AND LABORATORY APPOINTMENTS. THIS MEDICINE MAY AFFECT CERTAIN LAB TEST RESULTS. Make sure laboratory personnel and your doctors know you use this medicine. BEFORE HAVING SURGERY, or being confined to a bed or chair for long periods of time (eg, a long plane flight), tell your doctor that you are using this medicine. Special precautions may be needed in these circumstances while using this medicine. This medicine may cause dizziness. DO NOT DRIVE, OPERATE MACHINERY, OR DO ANYTHING ELSE THAT COULD BE DANGEROUS until you know how you react to this medicine. Using this medicine alone, with other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or to perform other potentially dangerous tasks. LIMIT ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES while you are using this medicine. THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE dark skin patches on your face (melasma). Exposure to the sun may make these patches darker. TOXIC SHOCK SYNDROME (TSS) HAS BEEN REPORTED in a few patients using vaginal rings. TSS is a rare but serious and sometimes fatal condition. Symptoms of TSS may include fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, muscle pain, dizziness or lightheadedness, fainting, or a sunburn-like rash. Tell your doctor right away if you notice these effects. THIS MEDICINE MAY INCREASE THE RISK OF BLOOD CLOTS (especially in women older than 35 years). The risk may be greater if you smoke. CONTACT YOUR HEALTH CARE PROVIDER IF vaginal bleeding of unknown cause occurs. This could be a sign of a serious condition requiring immediate medical attention. CONTACT YOUR HEALTH CARE PROVIDER IF vaginal discomfort occurs or if you suspect you have developed an infection while taking this medicine. THIS MEDICINE MAY INCREASE THE RISK OF BREAST AND ENDOMETRIAL CANCER. Your doctor may prescribe another hormone (progestin) to decrease this risk. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist CAUTION IS ADVISED WHEN USING THIS MEDICINE IN THE ELDERLY because they may be more sensitive to the effects of the medicine. FOR WOMEN: DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE if you are pregnant. IF YOU SUSPECT THAT YOU COULD BE PREGNANT, contact your doctor immediately. THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED in breast milk. DO NOT BREAST-FEED while taking this medicine. IF YOU HAVE DIABETES, this medicine may affect your blood sugar. Check blood sugar levels closely and ask your doctor before adjusting the dose of your diabetes medicine.
