CAUTIONS: DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE if you have had an allergic reaction to it or if you are allergic to any ingredient in this product. DO NOT EXCEED THE RECOMMENDED DOSE or take this medicine for longer than recommended without checking with your doctor. Exceeding the recommended dose or taking this medicine for longer than recommended may cause high blood calcium levels, which can lead to certain complications. Examples of complications of high blood calcium levels include kidney problems, bone problems, growth problems in children, a certain blood problem (anemia), pancreas problems, and seizures. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience back or bone pain, change in the amount of urine produced, confusion, excessive thirst, seizures, severe stomach pain, unusual tiredness or weakness, or unusual weight loss. SOME OF THESE PRODUCTS CONTAIN TARTRAZINE DYE (FD&C Yellow No. 5), which can cause allergic reactions in certain patients. If you have previously had an allergic reaction to tartrazine, contact your pharmacist to determine if the medicine you are taking contains tartrazine. Laboratory and/or medical tests, including blood calcium and phosphate levels, may be performed to monitor your progress or to check for side effects. DO NOT TAKE large doses of vitamins (megadoses or megavitamin therapy) while taking this medicine unless directed to by your doctor. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using this medicine during pregnancy. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using this medicine, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.
