Yellow fever is caused by a virus. It is most often passed on when an infected mosquito bites you. These mosquitoes often bite during the day. You can get sick from a single mosquito bite. You can also get it from some other person. You may have signs and then get better or you may be very sick. You may have a problem with your liver or kidneys. You may have bleeding problems or go into shock. It can be a very serious illness. There is no specific cure for yellow fever. Treatment depends on the signs. It is important to prevent fluid loss. You may need to be in the hospital if you are very ill. Some people need a blood transfusion. Once you have had yellow fever, you cannot get it again.

Chest pain; problems breathing; bleeding from the nose, gums, eyes, or rectum; yellow skin or eyes; or swollen belly,Signs of infection. These include a fever of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher, chills.,Feeling dizzy or weak,Passing out,Very bad headache,New or increased belly pain,Loose stools,You are not feeling better in 2 or 3 days or you are feeling worse
