Persistent depressive disorder, or PDD, is a long-term form of depression. If you feel sad or have a low mood for 2 years or longer, you may have PDD. This illness may happen at the same time or after a major depression. It may start slowly when you are a child or when you are an adult. PDD has mental and physical signs that are milder than those in people with major depression.
