Drug Overdose
Drug Overdose
Accidental overdose is when you take too much of a drug. Some people forget they took their medicine and take a second dose. Others may get their pills mixed up. Some people forget to remove a skin patch and place a second one. Drugs can build up in your blood. This can happen if you are on a high dose of a drug. It can also happen if your liver or kidneys do not work well and you are not able to get rid of the drug from your body. Your age and how much water you drink can affect how your body handles drugs. Some things you take too much of only cause minor problems. Other times, more serious problems may happen. Some of them are throwing up, sleepiness, or changes to your blood pressure or heart rate. Sometimes, the doctor may only need to ask questions and examine you. Other times, the doctor may need to treat you or your symptoms.
