Hepatitis D

Hepatitis D is a liver infection with the hepatitis D virus. Only people who have or carry the virus for hepatitis B can become sick with hepatitis D. You may become sick with them both at the same time. This illness may be severe and can then go away on its own. Other times it may last for a long time. Then it becomes chronic hepatitis D. There is no vaccine against hepatitis D. You can avoid high risk behavior and get a vaccine against hepatitis B. This may protect you from hepatitis D.
