CAUTIONS: DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE if you have had an allergic reaction to it or are allergic to any ingredient in this product. THIS MEDICINE MAY DECREASE your appetite, the amount of food you eat, and your weight. This is normal. DO NOT EXCEED THE RECOMMENDED DOSE or stop using this medicine without first checking with your doctor. BEFORE YOU HAVE ANY MEDICAL OR DENTAL TREATMENTS, emergency care, or surgery, tell the doctor or dentist that you are using this medicine. LABORATORY AND/OR MEDICAL TESTS, including blood sugar levels, hemoglobin A1c levels, and kidney function, may be performed to monitor your progress or to check for side effects. Keep all doctor and laboratory appointments while you are using this medicine. THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE DIZZINESS. Do not drive, operate machinery, or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how you react to this medicine. Using this medicine alone, with other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or to perform other potentially dangerous tasks. THE RISK OF LOW BLOOD SUGAR (HYPOGLYCEMIA) may be increased when this medicine is used with certain other medicines that may lower your blood sugar level (eg, insulin, meglitinides, sulfonylureas, thiazolidinediones). Signs of hypoglycemia include increased heartbeat, headache, chills, sweating, tremor, increased hunger, changes in vision, nervousness, weakness, dizziness, drowsiness, or fainting. It is a good habit to carry glucose tablets or gel to treat low blood sugar. If you do not have a reliable source of glucose available, eat a quick source of sugar such as table sugar, honey, or candy, or drink a glass of orange juice or non-diet soda to quickly raise your blood sugar level. TELL YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY about the reaction. To prevent hypoglycemia, eat meals on a regular schedule and do not skip meals. IT MAY BE HARDER to control your blood sugar during times of stress such as fever, infection, injury, or surgery. Talk with your doctor about how to control your blood sugar if any of these occur. Do not change the dose of your medicine without checking with your doctor. PATIENTS TAKING THIS MEDICINE have developed a severe and sometimes fatal pancreas problem (pancreatitis). Contact your doctor right away if you develop severe or persistent stomach or back pain (with or without nausea or vomiting). BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. CAUTION IS ADVISED WHEN USING THIS MEDICINE IN THE ELDERLY because they may be more sensitive to the effects of the medicine. FOR WOMEN: DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE if you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant without first talking with your doctor. If you become pregnant, contact your doctor right away. Your doctor will need to determine if this medicine is still right for you. IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using this medicine, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.
