This medication comes in a standard release format as well as an extended release format. Depending on what is being treated, you may be prescribed a dose of 75mg to 300mg, taken two times daily by mouth (standard release) or one time daily by mouth (extended release). Your doctor may start you on a low dose and slowly increase it over time.
Do not use this medication if you have an eating disorder or if you have seizures or are epileptic. You should not take this medication if you've recently and suddenly stopped using seizure medication, sedatives, or alcohol, or if you've used an MAOI in the past two weeks. Some teens and young adults may experience suicidal ideations when first taking this medication. The antidepressants and smoking cessation formats are not interchangeable, so only use the medication you have been prescribed.
