This medication is used to treat, but not cure, Parkinson's disease by diminishing certain symptoms, including poor muscle control, tremors or muscle spasms, and stiffness.
Azilect is available as 0.5mg and 1mg tablets, and it's taken by mouth once daily. Please note that the dosage is often determined by other medications that you've been prescribed as well as its efficacy.
Do not use this medication if you've used another MAOI in the last 14 days. It can also have dangerous drug interactions with several other kinds of medications or supplements, so discuss your treatment plan in full and tell your doctor about everything you take, whether it's prescribed or over-the-counter. You may not be able to use this medication if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have or have a history of liver disease, high or low blood pressure, or depression. This medication may also increase your risk of skin cancer.
