CAUTIONS: DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE if you are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine. DO NOT STOP TAKING this medicine without checking with your doctor. LAB AND/OR MEDICAL TESTS may be performed to monitor your progress or to check for side effects. Keep all doctor and lab appointments while you are taking this medicine. BEFORE YOU HAVE ANY MEDICAL OR DENTAL TREATMENTS, emergency care, or surgery, tell the doctor or dentist that you are taking this medicine. THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE BLURRED VISION. This effect may be worse if you take it with alcohol or certain medicines. Use this medicine with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to it. TALK WITH YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE DRINKING ALCOHOL while taking this medicine; it may increase the risk of liver problems. THIS MEDICINE MAY REDUCE THE NUMBER OF BLOOD CELLS THAT ARE NEEDED FOR CLOTTING. To prevent bleeding, avoid situations where bruising or injury may occur. THIS MEDICINE MAY LOWER YOUR RESISTANCE TO INFECTION. Prevent infection by avoiding contact with people with colds or other infections. Do not touch your eyes or the inside of your nose unless you have thoroughly washed your hands first. THE SAFETY OF THIS MEDICINE IN PATIENTS WITH INACTIVE tuberculosis (TB) has not been confirmed. You may need to have a TB skin test before you start this medicine to determine if you have TB infection. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. DO NOT RECEIVE A LIVE VACCINE (eg, measles, mumps) while you are taking this medicine and for at least 6 months after you stop treatment. Talk with your doctor before you receive any vaccine. CAUTION IS ADVISED WHEN USING THIS MEDICINE IN THE ELDERLY because they may be more likely to develop burning, numbness, or tingling. FOR MEN: THE RISK OF HARM OR DEATH TO A FETUS fathered by a man using this medicine is not known. Men who take this medicine should talk with their doctor about the need to use a condom when having sex with a woman who may become pregnant. If you wish to father a child, talk with your doctor. You may need to stop this medicine and complete the drug elimination procedure to remove it from your blood before you father a child. FOR WOMEN: DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU ARE PREGNANT. It may cause major birth defects or fetal death. You must have a negative pregnancy test before you start treatment with this medicine. IF YOU ARE ABLE TO BECOME PREGNANT, you will need to use an effective form of birth control while you take this medicine and for as long as it remains in your body to avoid becoming pregnant. If you plan to become pregnant, talk with your doctor about stopping this medicine and completing the drug elimination procedure before you become pregnant. Talk with your doctor for more information or if you have questions about effective birth control. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR AT ONCE if your period does not occur when expected or if you suspect that you are pregnant. IT IS NOT KNOWN IF THIS MEDICINE is found in breast milk. DO NOT BREAST-FEED while taking this medicine.
