This medication is used to bolster testosterone levels in adult males who have hypogonadism, which means the body does not produce enough of this particular hormone. It is not intended to boost athletic performance and may not be appropriate for other types of testosterone therapies.

Androderm is a prescription drug that's only available as transdermal patches, and comes in dose levels between 2mg and 5mg. One patch is applied at night and worn for 24 hours before being replaced by a fresh patch. Your doctor may adjust your dose to ensure the optimal level of serum testosterone concentration.

Pregnant women and children should never come into contact with this medication or the skin where this medication has been applied, as it can cause severe side effects and developmental problems. Do not use this medication if you have had an allergic reaction to other testosterone therapies or if you have prostate or breast cancer. Elderly men (aged 65+ years) may not be able to use this medication as it can increase their risk of prostate enlargement or cancer. You may not be able to use this medication if you have or have a history of kidney or liver disease or disorder including diabetes, sleep apnea, blood clots, heart disease, heart attack or stroke, cancer, enlarged prostate, or urination problems.
