This medication is used to reduce the risk of stroke or blood clot in patients who have had a transient ischemic attack (mini-stroke) by reducing inflammation and preventing clots from forming.
Aggrenox is only available as a capsule in a 25mg/200mg dose, and usually is only available in dosing packs. It is taken by mouth two times daily, with or without food.
This medication may increase your risk of bleeding, which can be dangerous or life-threatening, so be sure to seek medical attention if you experience bleeding that will not stop. Do not take this medication if you are allergic to any NSAIDs, if you have polyps in your nose, or if you have asthma. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medication, and always talk to your doctor before taking over-the-counter pain killers. You may not be able to use this medication if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have or have a history of myasthenia gravis, heart disease including congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease, kidney or liver disease, stomach ulcers, bleeding disorders such as hemophilia, or low blood pressure.
