This medication is used to treat severe acne in adults and children.
Acticlate is available as pills in either 150mg or 75mg doses. It's taken by mouth once daily either in the morning or early afternoon. It can be taken with or without food, but it should always be taken with plenty of water to avoid irritating the esophagus.
Do not take this medication if you have had an allergic reaction to another tetracycline antibiotic. You also shouldn't take Acticlate if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or on oral contraceptives. You may not be able to use this medication if you already take isotretinoin, a blood thinner, or seizure medications, or if you have or have a history of increased pressure inside your skull, asthma, sulfite allergy, or kidney or liver disease or disorder.
